Symptoms of Generalised Anxiety (GAD)

Anxiety is a normal part of life, but when it becomes excessive and persistent, it can be classified as a disorder. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a mental health condition characterized by persistent and excessive worry and fear about everyday life events and activities. People with GAD may experience a range of physical and psychological symptoms, including restlessness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and difficulty sleeping.

The exact cause of GAD is unknown, but it is believed to be related to a combination of genetic, environmental, and psychological factors. People with GAD may have a family history of anxiety or depression, or they may have experienced a traumatic event in their life.

The key symptoms of GAD include persistent and excessive worry and fear about everyday life events and activities. People with GAD may also experience physical symptoms such as restlessness, muscle tension, fatigue, and difficulty sleeping. Other psychological symptoms include difficulty concentrating, irritability, and difficulty making decisions.

If you think you may be suffering from GAD, it is important to seek help from a mental health professional. Treatment for GAD typically includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes. Cognitive-behavioral therapy can help you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to your anxiety. Medication can help reduce the symptoms of GAD, while lifestyle changes such as regular exercise, relaxation techniques, and healthy eating can help reduce stress and improve overall wellbeing.
